OK, so a landing is a landing is a landing. However we didn't want
to waste a single sq ft of space and the landing has been designed to double as a childrens play
area. The bathroom is positioned so as to not disturb the children at night, the upshot of this is
the end of the hall sees little traffic and so we utilised it to be a reading area for the children
and it works incredibly well. We use a stair gate to delineate the area, but the kids now kind of
keep themselves to themselves up that end. It also stops bedroom feuds from beginning as they
play together well in this landing no-mans-land.
Also we were aware that there is no natural light into the bathroom
as there is no external window. Again we contemplated this but decided to wait for another time
however we realised that if we put some glass bricks in the staircase return it would let
some natural light, however small, into the room, we added a large mirror at the top of the
stairs
